'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Woods Raring To Go

Former youth graduate Ryan Woods has admitted that it was almost like walking into a new club when the players returned for training given all the changes that have taken place over the summer in terms of the management and playing staff, but he can't wait to get going after last season's disappointment.

Speaking to the Official Site now he's back in the pre season routine the midfielder/right back last term, has said his main aim will be to impress the new manager and our coaching staff, and ensure that any bright words Mike Jackson has said about him from his showings last season, prove to be true.

'If I'm going to be honest it felt a little bit like I was walking into a new club. But everyone's made each other feel welcome and we're all part of a team. We've bonded straight away and it looks like we're going to have a very good season.'

With the player getting back into the swing of things following their holidays, and with fitness taking precedence at the moment, Woods went on to say that it's always difficult at this time of year, but the players know the benefits of it so it's just a case of getting on with it and making sure that you put the work in now so you get the rewards when the season is under way.

The 20 year old admitted it was also an interesting summer because of the changes, and like many who remain at the club, he's quite excited by the announcements we have made when it's come to strengthening the team.

'I was looking over the summer at who was coming in and what was happening with the club. I got excited by the signings we've made and I think we're going to have a really good go. Realistically, we've got to be looking to get promotion, no two ways about it. We've definitely got to be looking to get promotion.'

With so many changes, there is going to be a bedding in period and it'll take a while for the side to gel and show the consistency necessary but if we can get points early on in advance of things coming together, then we'll have a reasonable shot at going up at the first time of asking again and it's good to know that this is at the front of the gaffers and players' minds.
