Mellon Adds Fitness Coach

Manager Micky Mellon has brought in a former colleague to be our new dedicated fitness coach for 2014-15.

Andy Hodgen held the same role previously at Fleetwood Town where he worked with our manager in his time with them during their rise from the Conference into the Football League, and he brings with him experience and ideas that will be put into place as he now begins work alongside physio Chris Skitt in our first team group.

Speaking to the Official Site Hodgen said of joining the club.

'I'm really excited about the challenge and after meeting all the staff I'm looking forward to what the season has in store. I've been working with Skitty quite intensively, as we've only had a short period of time since I came in, working on what we need to get ready for the season. It's a very contagious staff, their attitude, ambition and personalities are spot on, I said after meeting them that this is just my cup of tea.'

He goes on to say that everyone at the club that he's met so far shares the same ambition, and that's to see the club return to League One as soon as we possible can, and he feels given the additions that Mellon has made since he came into the role of manager that everything is in place for us to have a real good go of doing just that next season.

'It feels right, and is a club going places.'

As for what he brings to the table, he says he shares a common vision with Skitt as he wanted to implement many of the same ideas himself, so sharing that vision has helped him integrate more quickly and allowed both of them to make swifter progress already on some key things ahead of the campaign and pre season beginning properly, but of course there are other ideas they are still talking about and mulling over, but in any event it should lead to our first team being fitter, stronger, and aiding their recovery better.
