Shrewsbury Sign Knight-Percival
Shrewsbury Town have today confirmed that they have signed Nathaniel Knight-Percival on a permanent deal.
Micky Mellon has now made his second signing of the week by bringing in the 27 year old centre half.
He has spent the last two season with Peterborough United, making 23 appearances last season across all competitions, including their recent League One Play Off semi final defeat against Leyton Orient.
Speaking to the Official Site as the signing was announced, our new manager said.
'He's a fantastic addition to the group. He's a lad I've known and admired for a long time. I've watched his progress at Peterborough and saw him playing in the play off semi finals in League One. I was hopeful and determined that I was going to get him in to add to the group and I'm delighted to get him in with the qualities he brings to the squad, his great pace, his ability on the football and he wants to get better. That's the main thing, that he wants to come here and improve.'
Mellon went on to say that he felt we already had great competition in defensive positions and Knight-Percival will simply add to that. Healthy and strong competition is something he wants for every position at the club moving forward.
The defender himself on joining us, that he was very disappointed to have been released this summer by Peterborough, but it was time for a change and a fresh challenge for him, and Micky Mellon impressed him with his plans.
'The manager showed a lot of interest in me, we spoke about being at this club and it went from there. He's a very ambitious man and wants to do very well with the team. He sold it to me and I've basically come on board for those reasons.'
