Mills Red Card Appeal Rejected

Following the game against Walsall last weekend, Shrewsbury Town confirmed that they would be appealing the red card shown to Joseph Mills in the game.

Speaking to the Official Site as the appeal was lodged, manager Mike Jackson said.

'We've had a look at it over the weekend, and a few others people have as well, and we feel there is a case for it to be reviewed. It would be a blow to lose Joseph for three games so hopefully the review will go in our favour.'

Having been shown a straight red card for a challenge on James Chambers, the FA Disciplinary panel clearly thought the referee was in the right.

Having reviewed the footage they decided to uphold the decision of the referee on the day and Mills will now miss the games against Stevenage, Tranmere Rovers and Crewe Alexandra.

Shrewsbury were not punished for launching the appeal, as the panel did however confirm that it wasn't a 'frivolous' appeal in their eyes so have limited the ban to the original three games.

Speaking after the decision came in the gaffer said.

'I'm disappointed as I thought we had a very good case to challenge the decision especially after consulting the people that we did and with the work everyone put in. I don't think it was a sending off and it's another example of a wrong decision which we are being punished for. We move on though and with Joe Jacobson we have someone who is very comfortable in that position, but I'm disappointed for Joe as I feel he has been playing well recently.'
