Manager Mike Jackson has said that the point we won against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday was a good point for the team and extremely deserved following the efforts of the players across the 90 minutes.
Speaking to the Official Site following the goalless game, Jackson said he was delighted with our efforts on the day and he was really pleased to see us shock the Molineux crowd who were probably expecting another three points and a win, and he even pointed to the late chance for Tom Eaves where we could've nicked the game and joked that passions were so high to have won the match that as he left the dressing room to give his post match interviews, the players were still 'debating' whether Eaves should've gone alone in that moment or looked to have played somebody else in.
'I think we had some good spells with the ball and some good counter attacks in the first half. Second half we started to run out of puff particularly lads like Jermaine who's only just come back, but we've worked so hard. We rode our luck a little bit and Joe Anyon has made a great save but you've going to have to do that when you come here. But then we go away at the end and we should score. We've just had a massive row in there amongst us all and it shows how much passion there is when you're disappointed at drawing nil nil at Wolves!'
In some regards that certainly bodes well that the players have reacted like that at full time, not only in the sense of knowing it was a missed opportunity to have snatched a victory and all three points, but also their passion to get those points and lift us up the table in the remaining games.
With few giving us a chance of getting a single point from the game, let alone being in with a shot of unexpectingly nicking it, Jackson couldn't credit the efforts of the players more given how he lined us up as having done his homework he knew we would have to really nullify them as they had been 'destroying' teams previously and he knew we'd have to be strong in defence and in some ways he's disappointed they didn't defend like that in the game against Bristol City as the result could've been widely different.
It was also the final game for Miles Storey who has been recalled by Swindon Town, and Jackson admits that is a blow to us and he'll be looking at the loan market again to see if he can get us some extra cover and strength up front now because of it.
Ultimately we just have to build on this in our next game now and look for an even more positive result.
