Goldson - Seize The Chance To Put It Right

Defender Connor Goldson has said that Crawley in midweek is an opportunity for Shrewsbury to put right what we did wrong in the game against Bristol City.

The three two defeat saw our three match unbeaten run come to an end, and the youngster says that if you look at our run in, and the teams we have to face, you could say it looks favourable as long as we perform how we know we are capable of performing and we need that to start on Tuesday evening.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game that leaves us second bottom of the table, he explained.

'We've got a chance to put it right in front of our own crowd. Three points on Tuesday and it all looks a lot different. There are a lot of winnable games to come, we're playing eight teams below Bradford in 13th and if we get the points we'll leapfrog those clubs around us.'

With the gaffer Mike Jackson picking out the manner of all three of their goals, Goldson admits that the defending on the day simply wasn't good enough.

'The defending was criminal. You can't expect to concede three goals and expect to win games, especially goals like that.'

Goldson admits that their first goal was a wonderful strike, which even Jackson did, but he adds that we basically gifted them the other two goals and the most gutting thing for the players in the dressing room after the full time whistle was that all our efforts to get back into the game twice ultimately have counted for nought as we still slipped up that third time.

For their third, the defender also admits that Shrewsbury can have no complaints on whether it did or didn't cross the line, because from where he was standing it had crossed the line and the officials called it right, but he knows we should've been better in the build up and got the ball clear so they didn't have that chance, and he also concedes he should've done a lot better with the opportunity that fell his way towards the end of the game with his stoppage time opportunity.
