Full back Joe Jacobson has said he'd like to be able to say he'd scored a better goal in his career following his strike against Sheffield United, but sadly he can't.
Jacobson's spectacular strike came from a 35 yard effort and helped set us on our way in the game, but it was mixed fortunes for the player as he was substituted soon after the restart following injury.
Speaking to the Official Site following the match, he said.
'It was a big win for us. The most important thing is that we got the three points and that we had a good team performance in conditions that weren't great. It's nice to be back to winning ways.'
The victory was Shrewsbury's third league win of the season, and hopefully now we can go on a little run of results and make life a bit more comfortable for us.
For Jacobson, keeping the clean sheet was also a big positive on the day because of being one up and our tendency to concede late goals in matches, so with us digging in and looking pretty comfortable when they came at us, is something that can boost everybody as we move into the upcoming matches.
At the other end of the pitch, killing them off with a second goal was also of vital importance given how we've struggled in front of the net in previous matches and not taken from a game what we have deserved at times.
As for his opening cracker specifically, he said.
'I'd like to say I'd scored a better one, but no, not in a professional game. It's always a nice feeling to score, but to score like that is quite special. Having said that I would've definitely given the goal up not to be injured, that's for sure.'
Speaking of the injury, he admits he'll have to be assessed in the next few days but it is sore and painful to walk around on, so he's hoping that when it settles down and he undergoes the necessary tests it turns out that the injury isn't as bad as it currently feels.
