Wroe Returns To The Greenhous

Graham Turner has swooped to bring in former player Nicky Wroe on an initial one month loan deal.

He joins us from Preston North End, who he left us for after 18 months at the club, in which time he helped us secure promotion to League One.

He made a good impression under manager Graham Westley after joining them, scoring eight times in 35 appearances, but with a change of manager, his chances have been severely limited and he's only made one start this season, so Turner was quick to snap him up on loan to help us out.

Speaking to the Official Site the manager explained that he was very pleased to welcome the midfielder back to the club and he knows he'll provide good competition and another option for us, especially as we have injury concerns over Luke Summerfield and Turner is mindful of aggravating his problems - so Wroe will no doubt be cover to allow him some rest to recuperate and hopefully sort the problem out.

'We know what Nicky can do, he's a powerful midfield player who can get inside the opposition box and score goals. He's a senior pro and he knows what the game is about, he's got enough physical presence and know how to do well in this league.'

Speaking himself after signing all the relevant paperwork, Wroe said he was thrilled when he found out that a return could be on the cards and he jumped at the chance.

'It was a bit of a surprise, but I'm really pleased.'

Wroe explains that at his stage in his career he needs to be playing games and he hasn't been doing that so he had a word with the gaffer at Preston and they discussed the idea of a loan spell to get him some games, so he asked his agent to see what his options were and after a meeting with Graham where it was mentioned, it almost seemed like fate to our former player.

'I hope I can be a part of Graham's plans and help the team go on a good run.'

He adds he has no trepidation about returning, and he's sure he can be as successful with us this time round as he was first time round so he's looking forward to meeting some familiar faces, as well as some new.

Wroe could go straight into the match day squad for the game against Brentford tomorrow.
