'If It's Football, It's Vital'

GT - Job Done

The point at Colchester today secures Shrewsbury's League One status for next season, and GT was pleased to see us do it ahead of the final game of the season.

Speaking to the Official Site Turner did say that with our superior goal difference he didn't really worry too much about the R word over the final two games, but obviously there is a certain relief that it's now mathematically impossible to happen rather than just hugely improbable.

'You couldn't have imagined 19 goals changings hands over 5 matches, that's 3 for us and 2 for Scunthorpe. But still, to be mathematically safe is a relief. There was a lot of energy I thought today, but we were a bit anxious.'

Turner admitted he fielded a more youthful side today simply to bring on that energy and of course it gave him an opportunity to cast a matchday eye over players at this late stage in preparation for next season.
